| NMMI is a four-year high school and a junior college. For that reason and because of our stated mission, we filter access to Internet sites. The State of New Mexico has made it unlawful to provide pornographic materials to high school age students.
The LightSpeed Systems Total Traffic Control content filter, which was made active in March of 2008, actively filters undesirable web content for the NMMI network. The content filter works to protect the users and the network from sites which have undesirable or malicious material. In the event a user is denied access to a particular site, which they feel is valid, they can submit the site for review simply by clicking the "submit for review" link at the bottom of the access denied page.
Blocked sites generally fall into the categories of sexual pictures, active nudity (as opposed to artistic nudity), illegal gambling, militant/extremist, drug culture, satanic/cult, intolerance, gross depictions, as well as violence/profanity.
