How to remove a PC from the Domain

NOTE: Before you perform the steps below, you should know your local administrator account password!

  1. Right click "My Computer" and select properties.
  2. Select the "Computer Name" tab ("Network Description" for Windows 2000).
  3. Click the "Change" button.
  4. Click the radio button for "Workgroup" and then type in Workgroup.
  5. Click OK
  6. Insert your local administrative username and password when prompted.
  7. Click OK
  8. Reboot

The above is for cadets who were at NMMI Spring 2005 and before. Your machine may still be looking for the Domain. Now that the cadets are on their own network, having your machine set to prompt for the domain is causing connection problems. Taking the steps listed above will remedy those problems. If you have any questions, telephone 8110 and speak to the IS Help Desk.
