How do I scan my computer for spyware or a virus?
Moderator: compserv@nmmi.edu (inherited from parent)

The LightSpeed Systems Total Traffic Control security agent dashboard allows a user to run manual scans. These scans can be done at any time that you feel a virus or piece of spyware has infected your system. There are three main tabs within the SA Dashboard. They are 'System Summary', 'Scan My PC' and 'Edit Settings'. The 'System Summary' tab displays the last update, the last scan, the scan result and the next scan time. The 'Scan My PC' tab shows the last scan statistics and is where you can run a manual scan. The 'Edit Settings' tab is read only and shows the SA settings.

Running a Scan

- Double click the icon located on the task bar (This icon has a green circle with a checkmark in the middle of it and a magnifying glass behind it). The Security Agent Dashboard will appear.

- Navigate to the 'Scan my PC' tab.

- Click on the green 'Scan Now' button at the bottom of the window. The security agent scan wizard will appear.

- Choose one of the following: 'Scan Entire Computer', 'Scan Selected Drives', 'Scan Selected Folders', or 'Scan Selected Files'. If you are unsure of where the offending file is located choose 'Scan Entire Computer' and click 'Next'.

- If you have a virus or spyware on your system it prompts you to view the results. Choose 'Select All' to select all the infected files and choose 'Quarantine'. It will display a summary of successfully quarantined files. Once finished close out of the dashboard an attempt to run the program that was previously being blocked.

- If your system is clean just click 'Finish' and then 'Close'.
