Is it possible for IS staff at NMMI to help my cadet with computer problems?
Moderator: compserv@nmmi.edu (inherited from parent)
IS staff may offer their advice to a cadet concerning a computer problem but by state law, NMMI employees are not permitted to perform repair work on a cadet's computer. State supported staff cannot compete with private enterprises in Roswell. Therefore, we depend on each cadet to go through a training session given by the IS department. The training provides instruction on how to connect the cadet's machine from their Ethernet card to the Ethernet connection provided at each cadet's desk in their room. During the fall semester, the training is planned the week end before RAT week. The cadet can then return to their room with the knowledge of how to connect their personal computer to the campus network. For new spring semester cadets, the training and distribution of newly purchased computers is usually within a few days of Matriculation.
